Q1. Where can I download the GATE 2026 result and scorecard?

The result and scorecard are live on the GOAPS portal. Visit goaps.iitg.ac.in/login and sign in with your enrollment ID and password. The main website gate2026.iitg.ac.in also carries the direct link. Your scorecard opens as a PDF. Download it and keep a printed copy safe. No offline scorecard is issued by any office.

Q2. What are the GATE 2026 qualifying marks for General and reserved categories?

General, OBC and EWS candidates need 25 marks or 25 percent of the paper total, whichever is higher. SC, ST and PwD candidates need 20 marks or 20 percent, whichever is higher. These figures are the minimum qualifying marks only. IITs, NITs and PSUs release their own separate cutoffs. Clearing the qualifying mark does not guarantee admission.

Q3. I lost my enrollment ID. How do I check my GATE 2026 result then?

Use the Forgot Enrollment ID option on the GOAPS login page. Enter your registered email ID and mobile number. An OTP reaches your phone or inbox within a minute. Verify it and your enrollment ID appears on screen. You can also find the number printed on your GATE 2026 admit card. Keep the email ID active until the admission process ends.

Q4. Can I challenge the GATE 2026 answer key and what is the fee?

Yes, the provisional answer key can be challenged online. The fee is Rs 500 per question. Log in to GOAPS, pick the question, upload supporting proof and pay the amount. If your objection is accepted, the fee is refunded for that question. Rejected objections lose the fee. The final answer key is published after all objections are reviewed.

Q5. Is there any age limit or minimum percentage to appear for GATE 2026?

There is no age limit for GATE. Candidates of any age can appear. There is no minimum percentage requirement either. You simply need a recognised degree or be in the final year of one. Third year undergraduate students are also allowed. The exam is open to engineering, science, architecture, pharmacy and computer application streams.

Q6. How long is the GATE 2026 scorecard valid and who accepts it?

The scorecard holds good for three years from the date of release. All IITs, NITs, IIITs, IISc and centrally funded technical institutions accept it. Many state universities and private colleges use it for M.Tech and M.E admission. Several PSUs also recruit through GATE scores. Each PSU sets its own cutoff and shortlisting rule.

Q7. What happens if a question is wrong or carries multiple correct answers?

Subject experts review every objection before the final answer key is published. If a question is found wrong, marks are given to all candidates who attempted that paper. This is the official Marks to All rule. The same applies when a question has more than one correct option. Your final result is computed only after these corrections.

Q8. Is there any re-checking or re-evaluation of the GATE 2026 result?

GATE does not allow re-checking or re-evaluation of the declared result. The only window for a correction is the answer key challenge round. Once the final answer key is out, the scorecard is treated as final. No request for marks revision is entertained after that. Candidates must rely on the official answer key window for any dispute.
