Q1. What is the minimum educational qualification for UPRTOU Ph.D. admission 2026-27?

You need a Master's degree from a recognised university with at least 55% aggregate marks. A 2 year Master's after a 3 year Bachelor's degree works. A 1 year Master's after a 4 year Bachelor's degree also works. Candidates holding a 4 year Bachelor's degree alone need 75% marks. M.Phil. holders with 55% marks can also apply. SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS and PwD candidates get a 5% mark relaxation on the minimum score.

Q2. Is there any age limit for the UPRTOU Ph.D. entrance exam?

No. The university has not fixed any minimum or maximum age for Ph.D. admission. Candidates of any age can apply, provided they meet the academic criteria. Since there is no age bar, no age relaxation slabs apply here. You only need to prove your date of birth through the Matriculation certificate at the time of verification. There is no age related document beyond that.

Q3. How many seats are available in UPRTOU Ph.D. admission 2026-27?

A total of 37 seats are open across 12 subjects. Computer Science has the highest share with 09 seats. Mathematics follows with 08 seats. Zoology carries 06 seats. Statistics has 04 seats. Business Administration and Business Management offer 03 seats. The remaining subjects hold one seat each. Seat reservation is split among SC, ST, OBC, EWS and UR categories as shown in the seat matrix.

Q4. What is the application fee and who gets a concession?

General, OBC and EWS candidates pay Rs. 2000/-. SC and ST candidates pay Rs. 1000/-. If you file after the regular deadline, the late fee slab is Rs. 2500/- for General, OBC and EWS, and Rs. 1500/- for SC and ST. Applicants who are exempted from the entrance test pay Rs. 1000/- or Rs. 500/- based on category. The entrance test fee itself is Rs. 1500/- for most candidates and Rs. 1000/- for SC and ST.

Q5. When is the UPRTOU Ph.D. entrance test and when will the admit card release?

The entrance test is scheduled for 05 November 2026. Admit cards are expected on 30 October 2026. You must carry a printed admit card and one photo identity proof to the exam centre. The result is likely to be declared on 07 November 2026. Keep checking the official portal for any change in these dates. The university may shift the schedule if administrative reasons arise.

Q6. How is the final selection done and is there any interview?

Selection runs through the entrance test score first. The university then prepares a subject wise and category wise merit list. Shortlisted candidates are called for counselling and document verification. Seat allotment happens as per the merit rank and reservation roster. Entrance test exempted candidates, such as NET or JRF holders, are considered directly for counselling. The brochure does not mention a separate group discussion round.

Q7. Can I correct my application form after final submission?

Yes, the university provides a correction window from 22 to 27 October 2026. During this period you can edit limited fields such as personal details, academic information and category status. Subject choice changes may not be allowed once the form is submitted. A correction charge may apply as per the portal rules. Check the official brochure for the exact list of editable fields before you make changes.

Q8. What documents are needed at the time of counselling and verification?

Carry your Class 10 marksheet, Master's degree marksheet and passing certificate. Bring the M.Phil. certificate if you applied through that route. Keep your UGC-NET or JRF certificate handy if you claimed test exemption. Category, EWS and PwD certificates must be valid and issued by a competent authority. Also carry your admit card, application form printout, fee receipt and a government photo identity proof. Migration and transfer certificates may be asked at the admission stage.
